Born on April 20, 1972, in Wilmington, Delaware, Stephen Marley is a Jamaican-American musician. He is the son of singers Bob Marley and Rita Marley. Beginning his lifelong musical journey at the age of 6, Marley started singing with his elder siblings Ziggy, Sharon and Cedella in their group known as, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. In 1980, he performed the lead on the Melody Makers' single "Sugar Pie." In 1999, Marley produced "Chant Down Babylon," a remix album of Bob Marley's music. Marley worked with the Fugees on their mid 1990s remake of Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry." He's also produced music for other artists such as Erykah Badu, Eve, Capleton and Inner Circle. After spending many years in the background as a producer and backing his brother, Ziggy, Marley decided to become a solo artist. His first three solo albums won Grammy awards for Best Reggae Album. In 2022, he produced an EP in tribute to Nina Simone titled, "Celebrating Nina: A Reggae Tribute to Nina Simone." Stephen Marley's fifth solo album, "Old Soul," released on September 15, 2023.
