Critics Consensus

One of the weaker Disney adaptations, Robin Hood is cute and colorful but lacks the majesty and excitement of the studio's earlier efforts.

The washed-out, muted colors are a mistake, and if Robin Hood is sometimes hilarious, it has little memorable magic. Go to Full Review

In the context of Disney’s long string of animated features it cannot help but feel like part of a low point for the company. Better films came before and after. This one just sort of sits there. Go to Full Review

Chris S @Janomi 14h Robin Hood is one of those movies that brings back a lot of childhood memories for me. I watched it countless times growing up in the '80s, and it still has the same warmth, humor, and charm that made me love it then. Reimagining the legendary outlaw as an animated fox was a simple but inspired idea that gave the familiar story its own unique personality. Brian Bedford is wonderfully charismatic as Robin Hood, while Phil Harris nearly steals the movie as Little John. Peter Ustinov's spoiled, thumb-sucking Prince John and Terry-Thomas' anxious Sir Hiss remain two of Disney's funniest villains. The catchy songs, colorful animation, and lighthearted adventure make it an easy film to revisit. The story is fairly simple compared to many of Disney's greatest animated films, but that's never really been the point. Its heart, humor, memorable characters, and timeless sense of adventure have made it one of my favorite Disney films for decades. See more Davetheman 1d Robin Hood is such a two words. Its good fun and entertaining to children from all decades. See more Kymber H. @SandlotLover17 Dec 29 What a fun and thrilling adaptation of Robin Hood! But, there are a few scenes with outdated and inappropriate humor. See more Read all reviews
