After his 65th birthday, Acme Printing plant worker John R. Hodges (Monty Woolley) becomes a victim of his employer's mandatory retirement policy. In a scheme to get his job back and the policy repealed, Hodges impersonates parent-company owner Harold P. Cleveland and arranges an impromptu visit to the plant that he hopes will leave the executives' heads spinning.
