critics consensus

Jennifer Lopez is as appealing as ever, but The Back-Up Plan smothers its star with unrelatable characters and a predictable plot. Read critic reviews

Audience Reviews for The Back-up Plan

Lopez's back-up plan should have been acting lessons. Lopez's performance was wooden and unconvincing. O'Loughlin was only marginally better. The script is nearly devoid of adult emotional response or innovation, almost like a Hallmark film. It's mildly distracting if you have nothing else to do while folding laundry at home but otherwise, the film is pretty useless.

The only reason I ended up watching this was because it was the only thing on Showtime. I'm actually thought it was fun and cute. Alex O'Loughlin is such a babe.. too bad his costar was Jennifer Lopez.

It was better than I thought, still Jennifer Lopez was really fun to watch in this movie, some jokes arent so memorable, and also the baby scene of that crazy women was kinda horrofying, still I kinda laughed. The Back-Up Plan needed to settle down a bit, but Jennifer Lopez saved this movie.
