Shona B @RT38697465 04/05/2025 As someone whose last name just happens to be "Brannigan", I couldn't resist seeing what this film was all about, I've been asked have I watched it so many times, here I am now in 2025 watching, 50 years later. While I am definitely not a fan of Western's (sorry) or action flicks from that era (or maybe I haven't given them enough watch) I still found "Brannigan" mildly entertaining. John Wayne brings his signature presence to the role, and the film had a few moments that kept me watching. that said, it's just not my genre, so it didn't resonate fully or hit the mark for me, I gave it a 3 out of 5-respectable, just not quite my cup of coffee----- I don't do tea LOL! There really isn't much to set this apart from other police crime dramas. The editing isn't that good because it feels like once Wanye arrives in London, stuff just happens. I know someone was kidnapped and he's trying to help the local officals get him back but that's it. The double cross, hired killers, motives and all that are very muddled because Wayne it feels like is forgotten about half the time. There are long stretches where things feel very dragged out and boring like the mail dropoff. The setting is memorable but it's just not shot that particulary well. The music isn't bad and probably the best thing about this but at times it feels like it sounds like every other 70's crime drama. Everything is just ok about it. The villian is just ok and super forgettable. This goes with the love interest as well. There are so many stunt double takes in this as well like Roger Moore in the later 007's It's also very cliche. Wayne is the loose cannon who doesn't play by the rules, the classic fish out of water setting, saving the day and getting the girl, it's all things we've seen done much better.
