When Tyler (Michael Ironside) discovers what could be a legendarily evil entity, he transforms into a power-hungry warlord bent on conquering death. After traveling to a distant planet that may hold the key to his plans, Tyler wipes out most of a colony's peaceful inhabitants. Only Julie (Julie Strain Eastman), a formidable female warrior, is left behind. Vowing revenge, Julie sets out to find Tyler with the help of a mysterious alien (Billy Idol) who may have a plan of his own.

This isn't your boomer dad's Heavy Metal. The original movie was great, and in Heavy Metal 2000 they turn everything up a 1000% for the attitude era of the time. They know their audience...horny stoners...and the movie absolutely delivers. It reads like a story from the pages of the magazine come to life with all the horniness and shallow characters that hallmark the genre. The characters aren't deep, but they are excessive, indulgent, and extreme to the highest degree. The plot isn't shakespeare, but it hits so many guilty pleasure tropes of sci fi/fantasy. The CGI art can be cheesy, but looking back from the future, it now seems nostalgic and def has a unique aesthetic. This movie has everything: heaving bosoms, lizard kings, blood, spaceships, mystery, and a diabolical antagonist. It is nonstop action. Not just a horny male fantasy...it is the epitome of the genre. Put respect on it's name. This is a psychedelic indulgent masterpiece. IT'S HEAVY METAL. Enjoy it under the influence

Heavy Metal is run of the mill revenge story, nothing as special at all than its predecessor. Animation and action didn’t age very well with the animation style. Not at all Missing much.

Disappointing film from beginning to end that has no of the fun of the original, just playing off sexy images and violent action. The only appeal is Michael Ironside's performance as the villainous Tyler. Outside of that, skip altogether.
