This inspiring documentary follows the story of the hockey team the Portland Buckaroos, a new team that emerged on the scene in the 1950's with zero expectations by the media, but still rose to become league champions and division leaders between 1960 and 1974, legendarily drawing over 10,000 fans to Portland's Memorial Coliseum. ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

Bewilderment in a wasteland has rarely been filmed with such tender irony and sentimental optimism.

has an amiable, rambling quality that befits its emotionally dislocated protagonists

Audience Reviews for Kings of the Road (Im Lauf der Zeit)

a wonderful road movie, a form that's become an american institution, but as one character says here: 'the americans have colonized our subconscious!' beautifully shot in black and white with every scene perfectly framed; if it was a lil bit shorter i could give it 5 stars :) as is, it took me 2 nights to get through, and i'm glad i took my time with it. earthy and ethereal, a tough combination to get right, but wenders manages it here

What Wim Wenders did with making this film is infinitely big especially nowadays (as the distinction between cinema and f**kin TV gets smaller and smaller, and so many movie theaters closing down). We must think the reason for cinema to be again really carefully.

I've seen five, and have greatly enjoyed every one of them. I will say, though, that I was slightly disappointed with this one (only because I had super high expectations). First, let me say that the cinematography was outstanding here. The Wenders/Muller combo has always been fascinating, and is no different here. I love their use of reflection of mirrors/windshields, etc. The slow, methodical pace also felt great, especially during any scenes on the road. What I liked a little less here were the characters. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time with these guys. But I didn't feel affected by them as I have by characters from other Wenders' films. It felt more interesting than moving.
