Damien Sachs (Sacha Baron Cohen) seemingly has it all: money, power, and a never ending stream of casual flings. As he prepares to ascend to the role of CEO at a leading advertising agency, his life is turned upside down when he wakes up in his worst nightmare: a parallel world dominated by women. Where he once ruled the boardroom, he now finds himself humbled and going head-to-head with the newly fierce and fearless Alex Fox (Rosamund Pike). With the rules of engagement changed and Alex at the top of her game, the two boldly battle it out in a playful and satirical comedy about what happens when the script is flipped.

Director Thea Sharrock presents a somewhat predictable but entirely cathartic take on what it really would look like if women ran the world, and it is fine companion viewing for Eléonore Pourriat’s French film I Am Not an Easy Man, on which it’s based. Go to Full Review

The gender politics, much like the French original, are bonkers and alarmingly retro. Go to Full Review

Only the easy feminism of winks and role reversals quickly wears thin. Go to Full Review

This remake should have gone for some fresh approaches to look at how the patriarchal mindset is difficult to dislodge. The answer to this age-old problem can’t lie in making women behave exactly the same way men do. Go to Full Review

Even if there's not much here that feels new about age-old gender expectations and discrimination, this remake of a 2018 French comedy is a crowd pleaser. Go to Full Review

It falls far short of the smart and pointed commentary that comedy was able to deliver, but as a made-for-streaming romp, it’s still enjoyable enough to be worth a couple hours of your time, thanks mostly to the effort of its lead performers. Go to Full Review

Elita M @RT90855992 28m So disappointed by this misused opportunity to express womens' better natures. It went low when it should have gone high. See more Thanayi T @RT68809523 37m The fact that I created an account just to comment this. I found this movie entertaining and funny. I haven’t laughed at a "comedy" movie in a while, so this is refreshing. I understood that the purpose of this movie is not to "represent a world ran by women" but a world where women behave like men. A world where men are the oppressed ones, the "emotional" ones, the "sensitive" ones. It’s supposed to be a mirror, to show men, what women in the "real" world (our world) go through everyday, everywhere and it’s so funny that most men in this review section don’t get it. Their testosterone is probably fluctuating. See more the R @RT83854800 2h A movie that sets out to critique a male dominated world, transforms into a female dominated world, but, all women behave like men. It almost reinforces that masculinity and testasterone basically runs the world - the very thing the film set out to critique and provide a different perspective on. It was a great chance to show a female-dominated world and how men would find it difficult to fit in. But poor writing ruined a good premise. Too eager to impress, the writers forgot to write a different world or were simply unimaginative. Would have loved to see what a world run by women would look like? Would endless discussions and focus on design replace male dominated rooms and focus on profits. Would men try to fit in by faking interest and expertise in the art of conversation? Would eve teasing be replaced by women judging men on their strength where it matters not? So much was possible. So little was done. See more Phil M @Pdogg 2h This fillum has been made before...What Women Want..With Mel Gibbons....Didn't anyone involved notice this? "Hey, wait a minute, this is that fillum from yonks ago innit" That was a rubbish fillum as well but at least it wasn't a direct rip off. Remember when Sacha Baron Cohen did comedy? This is terrible. See more Karen H @Missyjasper 2h "Funny how a film about women having the power suddenly becomes ‘unwatchable’ to some men 😂 Maybe the satire hit a little too close to home. I thought Ladies First was brilliant — sharp, uncomfortable in the right ways, and actually very clever. Women have spent decades watching films where sexism is normalised and just being told to ‘lighten up’, but flip the roles for 90 minutes and suddenly it’s a crisis 😅 The outrage honestly proves the point of the movie. The ‘manism’ tears are flowing." See more Ivan F @Neogrey 3h So much talent is wasted on this....I don't really know how to characterise this. It's so shallow it hurts. Cliche after a cliche. I only survived 10 minutes out of the first episode. See more Read all reviews
