Jonathan O @RT41230270 May 31 What if Toy Story in a live action but Andy is not in it but some how there's a Gremlins connection or universe in it and is little intense for smaller children about AI using bad/evil soldiers to take over mankind but there's some laughs especially the late Phil Hartman in he's final acting role did bring some laughs and also there's foreshadowing to Michael Bay's transformers. The concept is creative and gives the movie a unique edge, and there’s an entertaining energy throughout that keeps it watchable. That said, it never quite reaches its full potential. Some of the humor and themes feel underexplored, and the story can be a bit uneven at times. While the characters and setup are solid, the film doesn’t always dig as deep as it could. Still, it has enough charm and inventive moments to make it enjoyable, especially for a casual watch. It’s not a standout, but it’s far from bad either. I’d rate it a 6/10. See more Romas M @Romas Apr 5 Greetings from Lithuania. In 1998 "Small Soldiers" were a fun film for me when I was 14 years old. Revisiting it in 2026 when I'm 40 and this movie wasn't as much fun. The special effects did aged quite a bit. But this film remains a simple and pretty dumb fun. It borrows heavily from a far superior "Toy Story" and even Gremlins. This film is aimed at kids but it is kinda violent - like toy soldiers running with knives and etc. Voice acting although was performances by very well known actors isn't particularly memorable and more like servisable. The big problem with "Small Soldiers" is that toys aren't memorable at all - dialogs are very corny an simple. Again, Toy Story this is clearly not.
