Audience Reviews for Sweet Revenge (Dandy, the All American Girl)

½

Stockard Channing (pre-"Grease") is a streetwise car thief with a grand scheme to accumulate dough to (legitimately) buy a dream Ferrari. Her shady but lovable best friend (Franklin Ajaye) and well-meaning defense lawyer (Sam Waterston) do their best to keep her out of trouble, but she can't resist the ripe bounty of cars found around town. Channing and Waterston give fine performances, but a dumb ending wipes out most of the film's earlier virtues. Director Jerry Schatzberg began his career with an impressive trio of features ("Puzzle of a Downfall Child," "The Panic in Needle Park," "Scarecrow"), but this flop began a downturn from which he seemingly never recovered.
