There's much to be said for exploiting such fare judiciously. Yet given that Pixar has the superior stable of titles and their shared parentage, one can hope that ABC will have a friend in Pixar - and be "Terror!"-ized a little more often. Go to Full Review

I really think that this could be such a great way to talk to your kids about their fears and anxieties. Go to Full Review

So, while there are some shaky moments of dumbed-down humor, it's not far enough tonally from the films to be glaringly different. Go to Full Review

Pamela G @Pamtree 13h So funny and amazing. See more Nathan J. @NathanDirector May 2 Rated: 8.2/10 ⭐️ I expected a standard holiday spin-off, but the creepy atmosphere and emotional depth completely wrecked me. What Worked: MacLane’s heavy shadows and low-angle framing give the motel an eerie, claustrophobic weight. Through my Methodist faith lens, seeing Jessie push past her trauma to rescue her friends reminds me that true courage is serving others, even in the dark. Giacchino’s score also perfectly anchors the suspense with spooky motifs. The Cuts: The middle part really dragged for me; Mr. Pricklepants explaining horror tropes gets repetitive and stalls the tension. Keeping it spoiler-free, the antagonist’s motivation feels half-baked after such a massive buildup. Plus, cramming in so many characters meant Woody and Buzz got sidelined. Verdict: A spooky, heartfelt adventure that lets Jessie shine. Perfect for a cozy Halloween binge, but skip if you want genuine, terrifying scares. Favorite Line: “Combat Carl never gives up. Combat Carl finds a way.” See more Benjamin W. @Code70 Jan 27 Just a fun little Toy Story special. All of the characters are as charming as ever, and it’s just a nice way to see have the toys we’re doing between Toy Story 3 and 4. See more kish b @RT00429023 Nov 17 ★★★★★ Toy Story of Terror! is the greatest 22-minute Halloween special ever made, and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. This little TV gem somehow packs more laughs, genuine scares, and pure Toy-Story heart than most full-length movies manage in two hours. From the second that creepy vampire-bat logo appears on the TV screen and the gang gets stranded at a roadside motel straight out of Psycho, you’re completely hooked. The tension is perfect: Combat Carl’s PTSD flashbacks, Mr. Pricklepants delivering film-theory lectures while everyone’s about to be sold on eBay, Jessie facing her claustrophobia in the most adorable panic attack ever animated, and that iguanas-in-the-bathtub jump scare that still makes me yelp every single time. And then, when Jessie steps up and becomes the hero, saving everyone with nothing but a paperclip and sheer sporky determination? Absolute queen behavior. The animation is gorgeous (those rain-streaked windows and neon motel lights look like Pixar poured feature-film money into a short), the voice cast is firing on all cylinders (Tom Hanks and Tim Allen get real emotional beats in under 20 minutes!), and the final "You’ve got a friend in me… even in a creepy motel tool box" moment is pure comfort. It’s funny, it’s spooky, it’s surprisingly deep, and it ends with the toys watching a horror movie together like the wholesome little family they are. Toy Story of Terror! isn’t just the best Halloween special Pixar ever made; it’s one of the best things they’ve ever made, period. 10/10. Perfect October viewing every single year.
