4/5 Wrong Turn (2021) Benjamin Gummery This film is extremely strong on its own merits as a stand alone film and a welcome addition to the franchise. However die hard fans of the original may find this reboot hard to digest... EDIT

4/5 The Last Blockbuster (2020) Benjamin Gummery e film-makers passion for the subject matter is clear in the making of this film which was clearly a labour of love; whilst at the same time they are able to poke fun and not take themselves or the subject matter too seriously EDIT

5/5 Wolfman's Got Nards (2018) Benjamin Gummery A great insight into the lasting impact of 'The Monster Squad' and the concept of cult film in general. EDIT

4/5 Peripheral (2018) Benjamin Gummery Building on the premise of a writer struggling to complete the followup to their debut novel it also acts as a meditation on the writers process, fame and the interference of technology and corporations on our lives. EDIT

4.5/5 Madness in the Method (2019) Benjamin Gummery The film somehow manages to fulfil its own legacy as we see Mewes take on an unexpected and scene stealing role and you could draw comparison to this recent trend in films challenging stereotypical casting such as Uncut Gems & Mandy. EDIT

5/5 Parkland Rising (2019) Benjamin Gummery Despite the sombre subject matter, the overall feeling is uplifting; this film is about positive action and moving forward; not dwelling on the past but not ignoring it either. EDIT

4/5 Film Hawk (2016) Benjamin Gummery It is clear the influence that Hawk has had on many artists and people throughout his storied career; however perhaps more interestingly we get a peek at the more personal story of the man himself... EDIT

3/5 Batsh*t Bride (2019) Benjamin Gummery For a low-budget comedy the film is fairly well executed and delivers for what it is; a breezy and fun wedding comedy, whilst not breaking much new ground it is an entertaining watch and fun way to pass some time. EDIT

2/5 Char Man (2019) Benjamin Gummery It does however do a good job of creating it's own mythology for the fictional 'Ojai Vampire' and scarily real 'Char Man'. It's also fun to see the making of the 'movie within a movie' and it even plays with some tropes of genre. EDIT

3/5 A Legacy of Whining (2016) Benjamin Gummery Munro is reasonably likeable and entertaining in the lead role but i'm not convinced that alone is enough to carry the film and the dialogue and flow seems a little wooden throughout. EDIT

4/5 Why Don't You Just Die! (Papa, sdokhni) (2018) Benjamin Gummery Sokolov delivers a film with a strong, unique style and sensibility which will pull you into it's dark world of revenge despite being subtitled; however it does not hold back on it's more bloody and violent scene's so will not be for the faint hearted! EDIT

4/5 To Your Last Death (2019) Benjamin Gummery Whilst the film has it's share of blood, gore and SAW-style 'games' this is not excessive and the film it more driven by it's plot and characters than the action sequences; the plot even offers a few classic twists and turns that will keep you guessing. EDIT

4/5 Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) Benjamin Gummery Margot Robbie once again brings her all to the role of Dr. Harleen Quinzel and provides more layers to her character adding to her excellent performance in Suicide Squad. This film gives the audience what it promised.... The emancipation of Harley Quinn!!!! EDIT

4/5 Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019) Benjamin Gummery his movie could easily be described as a cavalcade of callbacks and cameos; with many references to Smith' previous films and pop culture in general EDIT

4/5 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) Benjamin Gummery Like most long standing franchises this installment is like Marmite you are either going to love it or hate it....and we loved it. EDIT
Posted Dec 18, 2019
3/5 Long Lost (2018) Benjamin Gummery The plot is in equal parts intriguing, horrifying and revolting ;although ultimately we can guess at the implied danger ahead. All the being said, there is a major shift in the third act that turns the whole film on its head... EDIT

Posted Aug 18, 2019
3.5/5 Ekaj (2015) Benjamin Gummery Ekaj is a hyper-realistic slice of real life; we see into the (often tragic) life of a gay street 'hustler' which is a character we don't often seen portrayed as raw as this on screen. EDIT

4/5 Chasing the Win (2016) Benjamin Gummery Whilst this film didn't spark an interest in horse racing it did offer a great insight into that world and ultimately I felt a connection to the personal stories show here EDIT

4/5 FrightFest: Beneath the Dark Heart of Cinema (2018) Benjamin Gummery a well put together documentary that will entertain FrightFest devotees as well as providing a real insight into the atmosphere of the festival for the un-initiated. EDIT

3.5/5 Captain Marvel (2019) Benjamin Gummery Overall the films pace did derail at times but ultimately is a strong first effort for Marvel's first Female-fronted film and has all the fun and joy we have come to know and love from the MCU. Larson's performance in this film is a high point! EDIT
Posted Mar 9, 2019
3.5/5 Happy Death Day 2U (2019) Benjamin Gummery The plot can at times be confusing but the comic scenes are a delight as the film pokes fun at it-self and genre tropes. EDIT
Posted Feb 13, 2019
3/5 The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (2014) Benjamin Gummery Overall we found this film a worthwhile sequel to the previous film. Although the over use of 'fake' scares seemed distracting at times and became repetitive; taking away from the gripping storyline. EDIT

2.5/5 Unfriended (2014) Benjamin Gummery ....It's also hard to re-create the same type of tension as other horror films; much like a badly shot found footage film; we don't see enough to truly horrify us. EDIT
Posted Oct 23, 2018
5/5 Chastity Bites (2013) Benjamin Gummery A teen horror/comedy with an interesting twist EDIT
Posted Oct 14, 2018
4/5 Suicide Squad (2016) Benjamin Gummery David Ayer has made his mark on the DC extended universe in a similar way to what Tim Miller did with 'Deadpool' although DC have held back from going all out with this film and kept a 15 rating EDIT

4/5 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) Benjamin Gummery This film brings something slightly different to the Star Wars universe while at the same time giving us a lot more of what we already know and love. EDIT
Posted Oct 12, 2018
4/5 B&B (2017) Benjamin Gummery a small, claustrophobic film with an excellent ensemble cast and almost perfect pacing. The cinematography is simplistic and deliberately bland and with a subtle scoring which allows the story and performances to be powerfully effective.... EDIT

5/5 Pride (2014) Benjamin Gummery This film has the same feel-good, small town charm as previous films on the subject such as Brassed Off (1996); it feels like a warm glass of milk (but with a whiskey chaser). It's incredibly bright and uplifting EDIT
Posted Oct 10, 2018
4/5 Victor Crowley (2017) Benjamin Gummery A real treat for Hatchet fans but also an enjoyable (if gory!) horror film in it's own right. EDIT
