Newly divorced Josh is an actor between projects who moves home to New York to regroup -- and into an apartment sandwiched between his parents and his brother's family. As he gets back on his feet, he's faced with his most challenging role yet: being a good son and brother while keeping his relatives at bay. As they literally come at him from both sides, he realizes he desperately needs to establish some ground rules, because his loving family is always going to be there for him. "9JKL" is based on the real-life experiences of executive producer and star Mark Feuerstein.

Margaret Lyons New York Times 10/12/2017
Everyone is far too involved in each other's business, because that's how sitcoms work, but the show's screechy self-loathing makes that seem damning and toxic rather than just antic and fun. Go to Full Review
Lorraine Ali Los Angeles Times 10/05/2017
The pilot promises a competent if familiar sitcom comedy that's more comfortable than daring - and that's OK. Go to Full Review
Maureen Ryan Variety 10/02/2017
Just about every plot turn on 9JKL can be seen coming, and the parents are so gratingly oblivious and interfering that it's hard to get invested in the plight of Josh, or any other character. Go to Full Review
Alberto Carlos Espinof 08/08/2019
Perhaps the best of '9JKL' is its cast. And yet their performances are exaggerated and exempt from any hint of subtlety. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review
Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 10/25/2017
The show's one-joke premise - parents can be such buttinskis! - wears thin fast despite the likability of Ms. Lavin and Mr. Gould. Go to Full Review
Kevin Fallon The Daily Beast 10/25/2017
9JKL is the kind of show that could have existed in the '90s, early '00s, or today, and still been panned no matter when it debuted. Go to Full Review

Stephen C @bob25009 Jul 13 16 funny episodes!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated TV-PG for Some Suggestive Dialogue (D)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more 08/27/2018 What a shame. I can't remember when a show made me laugh hysterically. I howled! Through /every episode. I was stunned when it was cancelled. Fortunately, after a few episodes, I stopped deleting them from my DVR. I seriously regret that I didn't save the first 4. What is wrong with people that they didn't like it? The writing was as clever as the delivery by a very talented cast. So sorry for the cast and crew who certainly deserved better. Guess funny isn't good enough anymore. I'm still shaking my head is disbelief. What can you expect from a bunch of folks who think sitting on an island eating bugs is entertainment? Sadly, quality doesn't count for much anymore. Critics aren't in touch with reality either. See more 03/08/2018 So far, this is my favourite show, it is they continue the show,,, I can't wait for the new episodes... See more 02/27/2018 Love the show very funny!
