Music should be treated like a craft. TV shows should invoke emotion. And competition should be a battle. And that's what I think this set of judges will do for the show. Go to Full Review

As recent seasons have shown, the mix of judges can change in a heartbeat, too. If last year's combustible concoction proved nearly toxic, this season may provide the tonic. Go to Full Review

You know American Idol has entered a new phase of its life when a guy who twerks while singing Over the Rainbow gets a ticket to Hollywood. Go to Full Review

It's polished. It's entertaining. And it's still committed to finding good singers. Go to Full Review

[Keith] Urban tells one teenager, "The singing for me needs more work, but it's not just a singing show." If not, then what is [American] Idol? Thirteen seasons in, the show is still trying to figure that out. Go to Full Review

SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch 08/12/2024 American Idol, a trailblazing competition that has the power to turn unknown individuals into superstars, has captivated audiences worldwide. The trio of judges, Randy, Paula, and Simon, brought their unique personalities and expertise to the show, creating an unforgettable dynamic. Over the seasons, American Idol has seen its share of memorable winners and controversial outcomes. From the quiet yet powerful vocals of Kelly Clarkson in season one to the legendary country singer Carrie Underwood in season four, each winner brought their own flair to the competition. Season five brought a new controversy with Taylor Hicks' win, overshadowing talented contestants like Chris Daughtry and Elliott Yamin. Despite the ups and downs, the show continued to produce stars like Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, and Scotty McCreery in later seasons. As the seasons progressed, American Idol faced challenges with judges' dynamics and changing formats. Winners like Caleb Johnson and Nick Fradiani faced struggles in establishing their post-show careers, highlighting the difficulties of maintaining success after the spotlight of the competition. The return of the show with new judges like Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan brought fresh energy to American Idol. However, recent winners like Maddie Poppe and Laine Hardy have faced challenges in making a lasting impact in the music industry. Season 23 holds the hope for a new mega star to emerge, reconnecting audiences with the show's legacy of producing successful winners. Despite the setbacks and controversies, American Idol remains a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talent and reach for stardom. With its rich history of iconic moments and unforgettable performances, American Idol continues to be a cultural phenomenon that sparks the dreams of aspiring musicians and entertains audiences around the world. See more 06/16/2017 The Good: Probably the right final 2. Some standout performances by Jena Irene. The Bad: Arguably a dated winner. A seemingly strong group kind of fell apart early on. See more 03/25/2014 Though this season has proven to be better than the previous, it is not by much. Though less bias is presented through the judges' critiques and the environment of the show seems a lot more viewer/family friendly, there is some unnecessary change in format (this is mainly due to budget cuts), and a sense of bore in performances. I still enjoy watching the show, but sadly, it is not what is used to be. See more 01/30/2014 Just isn't the same anymore! See more Read all reviews
