Longtime couple Drew and Jake celebrate their anniversary with a picnic, but their celebration turns into a huge breakup scene, which in turn results in a forest fire. Charged with setting the blaze, the now-former couple is sentenced to 2,000 hours of community service, which they must serve together. So each week Drew, Jake and a group of similarly sentenced people - including a spoiled socialite in search of a sugar daddy, a perpetually stoned community service veteran, and a former member of a biker gang - tackle less-than-thrilling assignments while dealing with the ongoing nightmare of performing thankless tasks for no money in the company of their ex. And it's all taking place under the watchful eye of an overzealous parole officer.
