Some of the information I’ll need to research further, but overall it’s very eye-opening. One thing that stood out to me: many people keep saying she was manipulated. While that’s certainly possible, I think it’s worth paying close attention to the courtroom scenes. Do they really look like someone who has been completely manipulated? I’m not an expert, of course, but it made me question that narrative a little. Either way, this documentary is absolutely worth watching. Knowing all the facts from when it all happened, I find that if I was a foreigner, I would be completely confused. The timeline is all over the place. Good footage, bad storytelling. No background history of Bester who used to con people from the age of 15. Where is the story of the impacts on her husband and children - how have their lives been affected? Nope.
