Critic Consensus: "Last Refuge" finally presents the Legends with a formidable adversary, only to immediately disarm her and undermine the entire episode.

Episode Info

The team is targeted by The Pilgrim, a deadly assassin who wants to erase the Legends from the time line by killing their younger, non-superhero selves. As a protective countermeasure, Rip instructs Sara, Snart, Rory, Professor Stein and Jax to kidnap their past selves before The Pilgrim gets to them.

Critic Reviews for Last Refuge

It's always fun when the characters get to go back and interact with their past selves. I've been waiting for the moment Mick got the chance to do it, and his surely didn't disappoint.

Well, that was a little rough, and I don't just mean the wig that they stuck on poor Paul Blackthorne.

That upped the threat level considerably, which is why it was such a letdown when the show immediately neutered how ruthless that the Pilgrim could be.

Well, this was kind of a nothing episode, wasn't it?

Even though I didn't love how her story was paced (or how her objective was full of plot holes and potential loopholes she could have used), the Pilgrim was pretty cool.

This week's Legends of Tomorrow was fairly enjoyable, despite the ongoing blight that is Kendra and Ray's half-baked romance.

But for the most part, these emotional detours flounder, as they're centered on characters we've never met before.

All of that would be bad enough on a confusing level, but this episode failed to offer much compelling material anywhere else.

Once again the rules of time travel are adjusted to each episode's needs, but at least this allows for some quiet, tender moments and a bit of evolution.
