The storyline is terrific -- as with horror-fantasies like Boogiepop Phantom and Paranoia Agent, Death Note doesn't limit the focus to the protagonist, and it considers the effects his activities would have on society at large. Go to Full Review

Death Note's audacious attempt to explore and even question the idea of morality is ambitious and ultimately more hit than miss. Go to Full Review

Omar L @okzen Jun 28 Death Note is a psychological thriller that really stands out because of its concept. It’s basically a constant mind game between Light and L, and most of the story is just them trying to outthink each other. What makes it interesting is how calm it is for the most part, but still tense at the same time because every move actually matters. The way it stays focused on strategy instead of action is what carries it. Overall, it’s just a really smart and unique series that keeps you locked in the whole time. The story follows Light Yagami, a brilliant student who discovers a mysterious notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing their name in it while imagining their face. As he proclaims to be the new god of the new "perfect world," as he starts killing criminals, a genius detective known as L begins to track him down. One strength of the series is its complex characters. Light is fascinating because he is both intelligent and morally questionable, while L is a strong and unpredictable opponent. Their battle of minds creates constant tension and excitement. The show is effective because of its clever plot, dramatic twists, and deep themes about justice, power, and morality. Although some moments may feel slow, the overall story remains gripping and thought-provoking. Overall, Death Note is a must-watch for fans of suspense and psychological drama.
