Former Hazzard County deputy sheriff Enos Strate is recruited for a new branch of the Los Angeles Police Department after he captures two high-profile criminals by accident. Although he is cheerful and enthusiastic in his new assignment, Enos is a fish out of water with his colleagues, including street-smart partner Turk Adams and their boss, Lt. Jacob Broggi.
