It's a lot of hair gel, suntan lotion and skimpy clothing for the young adults featured in this reality series. After a first season spent in the beach town of Seaside Heights, N.J., the party moved south to Miami Beach for season two before friendships and flames were rekindled back at the original Jersey shore house in the third, fifth and sixth seasons. In between, a new type of renaissance ensued when the roomies brought their trademark fist-pumping and family dysfunction to Italy in season four. The historic city of Florence, it's safe to assume, may never recover. The series ran for six seasons and became MTV's highest-rated series ever.

Jersey Shore proves to be a seminal work in the trash reality canon, thanks to its cast of endearing characters and alcohol-fueled drama.

There's no doubt Pauly D used a lot of hair gel even before the cameras found him, but laughing at him for packing a suitcase full of product is like laughing at a circus clown for wearing funny makeup on his face. Go to Full Review

All right, so maybe "five reasons to like 'Jersey Shore' " was setting the bar too high. Go to Full Review

Beneath their tans and gel, the cast of Jersey Shore showed us how to be good to ourselves and one another. Mainly they fought for, not with each other. Go to Full Review

Ed R @JustcallmeER Oct 1 A wild ride full of drama and partying! Can't beat the Jersey Shore! See more Natasha R @MsNatasha Aug 19 Did I just binge watch this season - yes. Do I recommend others do the same - no. This unique piece of time has lived in my head rent free for years. I, as much as any other young 20-something, LOVED this show when it first aired. Why? I don't know, it was a much simpler time. Watching it again I was shaking my head. The introduction videos were cringe...especially Angelina…was she topless in that introduction? I had to remind myself that Girls Gone Wild was big then, perhaps she tried there too but didn’t make the cut? Watching Snooki drive up in a busted car looking like her original self (seeing her now, you might be shocked at the transformation) was comedic genius that you honestly couldn’t script. Time and money have done wonders for that woman’s life. Honestly, no hate towards her at all; her emotional (maturity level) glow-up has been great to see as an early fan. Going back to season 1, it seems like MTV was trying to position Sammy as the “lead” lady. She had some insights and people were seemingly trying to get validation thru her. That is hilarious to me as she seems like one of the most single dimensional people on the show. Her fights with Ronnie were hard to watch and she started the MOST fights this season as she didn’t know when to stop talking. She even got petty with her roommates who only wanted to hang out with both of them more saying “just girl drama”…no, your friends were being honest with you. The double standards of calling all the girls who came back to the house “whores” and “skanks” while not wanting to be called those names yourselves for doing the same thing was hard to take in. Snookie wearing a “Pornstar in training” trucker hat was not doing any of them any favors when it came to name calling. If you enjoy drunken fist fighting, terrible dancing, watching people make a fool of themselves in public, and getting a glimpse of how we lived back in the day – this is the show for you. Just be prepared to cringe, roll your eyes, and maybe grab a drink to get yourself thru it. I was 19 when it came out, right around the same age as the cast, which made it feel even more real and relatable in the moment. The core group—Sammi “Sweetheart,” Ronnie, Mike “The Situation,” Snooki, Vinny, JWoww, and Pauly D—quickly became household names. The premise is simple: eight strangers spend a summer at the Jersey Shore, balancing work, partying, and the chaos that comes with living together. That simplicity is exactly what made it explode. Fueled by alcohol, personalities, and nonstop drama, the show became instant pop culture. It captured a very specific moment in time—the late 2000s young adult party scene—and turned it into must-watch television. The relationships and conflicts carried the season, especially the messy dynamic between Mike, Sam, and Ron, along with the now-iconic Sam and Ron fights. Snooki’s early struggles to fit in, the wild nights o See more 09/19/2020 Worst show ever! Only losers like to watch these bastards. See more Read all reviews
