Warwick Davis is an actor who, as a dwarf, counts among his most famous roles playing the title character in the "Leprechaun" film series. In this mockumentary series, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Davis stars as a fictionalized version of himself whose career is in a downward spiral. As if that's not bad enough, he also has a massive tax bill caused by his useless accountant and a wife who is divorcing him. As a result, he opens his doors to a film crew, which films him 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in an attempt to get back on top. The film crew captures Warwick's every move as he tries to maintain his pride in unusual situations. Cameos by celebrities, including Gervais, Merchant, Johnny Depp and Steve Carell, are featured in many episodes.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Life's Too Short is enjoyably crass, but borrows heavily from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's previous work.

Life's Too Short is a condescending, exploitative, and grimly unfunny genre exercise convinced that it's pushing boundaries. Go to Full Review

There are some funny bits, while Gervais expertly fashions his own comeuppance for last year's Golden Globes' roast. Go to Full Review

Life's Too Short is an intermittently funny but mostly mediocre retread of the themes and humor from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's previous shows. Go to Full Review

The show conjures the most laughs when Mr. Gervais is on screen, but his presence doesn't mesh naturally with Warwick's world. Go to Full Review

nina n @RT78311591 May 21 Critics often weigh everything by the ounce of absurdist, satirical, black Monthy Python humor, and any English humor that prides itself on being quintessentially English like theirs but which, in their view, isn't up to Monthy standards, is treated with condescension and contempt. That's to say, watch this series, because not only does it raise a number of red flags with each episode, it's funny, and shows what is never shown about the wonderful world of Hollywood and Co. The aim here is not to create a masterpiece, but to say and show things simply, with simplicity and good humor. See more 06/13/2021 Knew about this show and seen clips but never watched all full episodes until now. It is hilarious. I absolutely love it. Warwick is a fantastic actor and the supporting / rest of cast are quite brilliant. As others have said, if only there were more! See more 05/16/2021 Hilarious...I wish there were more episodes See more John R @Kollar 04/13/2020 Fantastic and one of a kind. Very (VERY) dry. See more raphael g @raphagimenes 01/25/2020 It's been a few years since I watched it, and for some reason I didn't get to rate it then. But I remember liking it a lot! See more Petros T @PetrosTserpelis 09/04/2018 Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's brand of comedy is still alive and kicking in "Life's Too Short" if slightly more familiar after the overall meatier "The Office" and "Extras". Warwick Davis's acting fits their type of humour very well, and the three of them succeed in combining some hilarious moments, acute social awareness, emotional resonance and A-list guest stars deconstructing themselves, yet "Life's Too Short" doesn't have the consistency or originality that would make it essential.
