What to Know

Critics Consensus

Derivative yet still intriguing, Loch Ness delivers an uneven first season that suffers in comparison to superior series while hinting at greater potential.

You'll probably figure out the ending to "Loch Ness" well before the fog lifts, but my hunch is you're here mainly for the luscious scenery. Go to Full Review

The peel-the-onion format here is familiar by now, but Stephen Brady's script and a group of fine performances keep it intriguing, nonetheless. A fine diversion for summer evenings. Go to Full Review

It does a good job of slowly building up a portrait of a troubled but brilliant man with little regard for authority but great regard for the law itself. Definitely worth a look. Go to Full Review

This disjointed head-scratcher of a crime serial piled so many ludicrous events into its first hour that by the end I couldn't help laughing in disbelief. Go to Full Review

ITV has promised that the loch will become a "character in its own right," which is probably a good thing because it surely has more depth than any of the other characters in this show (pun intended). Go to Full Review

Betty B @Betty1977 Dec 3 Badly written, badly acted, totally idiotic storyline. Only worthwhile moments are the scenery See more Nick Aug 25 Abso-feckin-lute bollocks. See more Philip W Aug 22 Absolute drivel, don’t waste your time. See more Gerry S Aug 17 The sunk cost fallacy of TV dramas: I keep watching as I've invested some time in it so I might as well continue. Sadly, it was all a waste of time. Ludicrous and derivative, such implausible characters, relationships, plot lines. Nothing was believable, no one was likeable. See more Lets D Aug 6 Sorry, its a no-no to me. Too many very disturbing scenes of dead people. One of that movies, you only look till end to see that justice was served. On a good side of things, amazing music, and nice views of Scotland. See more Cynical C @Cynical Aug 5 The Loch, or Loch Ness to viewers in the UK and Ireland, is a show that manages to be of slight interest to the viewer, yet, like most modern plot-twist cliche mystery series, is almost entirely predictable. The acting is either genuinely compelling or hammed up to ninety, most likely due to the somewhat vagueness of plot. The show could have been ten times more immersive had it been twice as long to allow for greater depth, but with only six episodes, there is only so much that could be done. The production does feel somewhat off, as it feels as if this Scotland is a Hollywood poets version of what it is which, from personal experience, is not at all what it is. See more Read all reviews
