A C @RT03019001 Aug 22 Thoughtful and fascinating look behind the scenes of how the DNA Doe Foundation is discovering the identities of unidentified individuals and hopefully returning them to their surviving loved ones. It could have been difficult to make the grueling hours behind laptops seem interesting, but this series held my attention. With easy to follow graphics it explains how the process of forensic genealogy works. Because this is television, of course some of the scenes are likely staged for emotional impact. I did not find this particularly manipulative since this is what makes compelling tv-(this is how all documentaries work- true crime, historical and nature.) The attention to detail and enormous effort behind each discovery is remarkable. Many of the people that the DNA Doe Foundation find the identities to lived on the margins of society and their cases often did not get the attention and resources when they initially went missing or they were never reported missing at all. The dignity of having their identities returned to them and some semblance of closure to their loved ones is emotional. See more Read all reviews
