This story feels fresh, and no show has given its tortured antihero a sidekick as rich as Tommy.

[Curtis "50 Cent"] Jackson is also the best thing about Power. At the very least, he comes by way of this brutal role authentically.

Power Season 2 really takes off running with the character development laid down last summer. The performances are as strong as ever, and the spot-on music cues give the new season an incredible amount of momentum.

Power takes full advantage of its long leash on nudity, language and violence, resulting in a bloodier, grittier, more "adult" show than Empire.

Whatever the reason, Power has definitely stepped up its game.

I'm really excited about Power season two because it's longer and doesn't have to do as much heavy lifting as the first season.

As with filmed masterpieces like The Godfather and The Sopranos, almost nobody in Power is without some guilt, and in a more-perfect world the worst of them would not be presented as entertainment, let alone as people to root for.
