Tv Season Info

Picking up right where we left off, Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet finds the Hammonds trying to adapt to Sheila's now-advanced undead state -- even though she's desperately working to hold on to her suburban lifestyle and not be defined as just another monster. Unfortunately -- while the family has become markedly better at murder -- the number of missing people in Santa Clarita is starting to pile up and it's no longer going unnoticed. Meanwhile, the Hammonds are chasing the source of the virus so they can stop it from spreading and save humanity -- which seems important. Through it all, Sheila and Joel are grounded by their unconditional love for one another. Sure, being undead -- or loving someone who is -- isn't always easy, but don't all relationships have their challenges?

Critic Reviews for Santa Clarita Diet Season 2

If Santa Clarita Diet is going to succeed with self-awareness, it needs to give Joel and Sheila as many honest, joke-breaking scenes as their daughter (Abby still feels like the only real character on the show), and it needs to amp up the insanity.

...there's something nice about seeing a family sticking by each other through thick and thin, even when their matriarch is using a human heart as a stress ball.

The writing remains very crisp and the action is punctuated by the show's comically theatrical gore. It is a reliably amusing series, and its return is very welcome.

Instead, it remains as static and unyielding as it's possible for a 10-episode comedy series to be.

I can't remember being this satisfied with a season finale in a really long time. Bravo, Santa Clarita Diet.

The second season of Santa Clarita Diet has been a pleasant surprise

Mar 29, 2019 | Full Review…

Attempts to conceal the latter's murderous undead appetite, but adds more than a few wrinkles of its own unique zombie mythology and leans harder on its stellar support cast.

Watch it, if for no other reason, to see Timothy Olyphant reminding the world that he's a comedic force to be reckoned with. Come for the gags, stay for the heart, which I hear is very tasty when pulled straight from the chest.

This season, Barrymore's performance is more defined, the tone more consistent, and the refreshing shift in focus from "cover-up" to "survival" pays off in spades.

Season two took the series from light-hearted entertainment to full-blown addictive television. There's gore and a lot of gross-out gags, but more than that there's a ton of heart.

It simply knows better how to find its humorous balance and how to introduce a series of plots in an interesting way that also serves to make the story move on. [Full Review in Spanish]

The dissonance and irony beget comedy gold - the best laughs are always unexpected.

Season 2 - very funny - they are hitting their stride - they know what works. Great show.

I like the nazi calls and the whole ablism debate, kind of geniusly funny. Same problems with last season, wimpy dudes and terrible political agendas pushed in the way of a good story or no contestion. Lukewarm trash.
