The bond between humans and animals is sometimes hard to define, but the emotional connection a person develops with his pet certainly is real and often very deep. "Saved" tells the stories of animals who have transformed human lives, helping them deal with loss and cope with pain. People share their incredible stories of animals acting as heroes in both a physical and emotional sense -- a 4-year-old girl, for example, was so traumatized by the events of 9/11 that she stopped talking, and nothing seemed to rekindle her spirit until she met a Yorkshire terrier named Scout.
