He treats it the way non-fans did back in the 70's, 80's & 90's... Non Trek-fans believe what they hear about Star Trek over what they know about it because they never really watched it in the first place. SNW feels like a fan-made series made by people who aren't fans. Instead, they modernize the quasi-military structure of this TOS prequel to make the millennials & Gen-Z'ers feel smarter. Except this show isn't smart. It suffers from what all modern Trek suffers from: a lack of something to say as well as a condescending POV towards the audience. Some people like SNW but I stopped watching it because it's a timid show that copies aspects of past Trek while making a fool of Pike & Spock (to justify the really weak female characters on the show.) For such a feminist pointed show, they sure don't allow the women to actually move, grow or fail. It's all easter eggs and stupid dialog. I can't watch this any more. I'm done. Make some decent Star Trek! I can’t believe I pay for Paramount’s streaming service. I am thinking HBO would give me more entertainment for my money. The narrative focus has shifted heavily toward romantic affairs and fantasy elements, leaving very little room for the grounded science fiction that traditionally defines the series. With only ten episodes per season, the show needs to stop wasting its limited runtime on experimental fillers and utilize writers who have a firmer grasp on what the series is about. Not sure how accurate that re-shoots where done and maybe this is why this Season 3 didn't land as well as the 1st. Two seasons? But overall being Star Trek, I still did enjoy watching it.
