What to Know

Critics Consensus

Stranger Things' slow-building sophomore season balances moments of humor and a nostalgic sweetness against a growing horror that's all the more effective thanks to the show's full-bodied characters and evocative tone.

The second season steps up the pace gently, without losing its firm grip on the very specifically dated narrative speed of the first season. Go to Full Review

I've no idea where it's going, but that's hardly surprising because I've also no real idea where it went. I'll watch it all. Probably, so will you. Go to Full Review

How many other shows about alternate dimensions and Dungeons & Dragons monsters operate with such emotional subtlety? Haters to the left. Go to Full Review

The second season of Netflix's nostalgic sci-fi/horror series makes up for its lack of novelty by deepening its characters and making them, not the monster mayhem, the star of the season. Go to Full Review

A good follow-up season that may not live up to enormous strengths of the first, but does enough to keep us interested and excited for what comes next. Go to Full Review

Абдуллах Г @ABDU-408 1d good season Amazingly well done See more Samuel W. @jockhater2 1d For me the order goes Season 5, season 4, season 3 and then season 2 in order of my favorites. See more Liam E @Thepurpleguy24 4d A fine season not as great as the first but still preforms well the acting still is superb and it still has a great sense of mystery. See more Timothy L. @Heisenburgh 5d While it’s a slow building ramp up this season every single aspect of it is beautifully done. We got to watch more of the relationships we know and love grow and mature in such wonderful ways. I find some continuing to be absolutely blown away by the acting here. Especially Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington & Dacre Montgomery’s Billy Hargrove. Honestly, the entire cast is next level stuff in every single scene. The special effects are once again top notch especially the scenes with the Mind Flayer. He’s menacing and scary in all the right ways. The Demo-Dogs were wonderful as well. My only minor complaint would be Episode 7 but after multiple re-watches it’s grown on me in unexpected ways. I’ve particularly grown to enjoy Eleven’s journey in that episode more and more and I truly believe it’s integral to her journey in the last two episodes. The relationships between the characters this season continue to be what makes this show so special (aside from the excellent sci-fi story and bombastic special effects). Whether it’s Steve/Dustin, Nancy/Jonathan, Eleven/Hopper, Max/Lucas, etc. Every single pairing is perfect and wonderful in its own way. Love the cliffhanger and can’t wait to see it connect to Season 3 in new and unique ways I haven’t noticed before! See more Stellabomps @Angelo_Hargrove Jan 27 I'll just say that I love, adore, absolutely adore Billy Hargrove's character; he's everything. I wish he'd had more screen time. I adore him.
