Even though at times it was boring, other times were thrilling and there was enough good overall for this to be considered a successful season of Survivor. Go to Full Review

It certainly was entertaining at times watching Rob strategize (the most dominant showing ever) and Phillip philosophize (the craziest showing ever), just not very dramatic. Go to Full Review

The whole season had an air of uselessness around it, and we'd have all been better off if CBS had just aired a 30-minute special where Les Moonves wrote Mariano a check. Go to Full Review

The footage focuses almost exclusively on backstabbing and self-interest. It's small-minded and cynical, but no more than the stuff in The Federalist Papers about the awfulness of human nature. The show is solidly American. Go to Full Review

This season is shaping up to be a good one, with strong personalities and savvy players. The Redemption Island twist is making for compelling duels, and no one knows yet how the winner of the Island challenges will integrate back into the tribe. Go to Full Review

"Survivor" gave us some interesting insight into group dynamics and social behavior, but the complete lack of gameplay by anyone other than Rob or Russell Hantz made the season much less than we have come to expect from the show. Go to Full Review

SurvivorGeek . @RT40882211 May 15 Survivor: Redemption Island is the worst installment of Survivor from what I’ve seen. Sure, it’s not the most horrible thing, but looking back, it definitely wasn’t good. This season can be described in one word: boring. Why is it boring though? I mean, it brought back Boston Rob and Russell, two greats, so why should it be boring? Well, let me tell you why. Come the merge, Rob created the buddy system, turning adults into dogs on leashes. Don’t take that out of context. The merge was a steamroll of the Stealth R Us alliance, something that us Survivor fans aren’t too fond of. Survivor fanatics love unpredictability, and unfortunately, Redemption Island doesn’t offer that. The editing really shows that Ometepe, in Colton terms, is the “Greek Gods”, while Zapatera is “the peasants”. I’d not reference Colton, but I was just joking. The twist this season sparked debate over how it works. The redemption island twist is essentially just do the challenges and once you get to the merge you come back. Matt successfully returned into the game at the Final 12, and then swiftly got voted out afterwards. Speaking of the merge boot, that was probably one of the only good ones this entire season, but I digress. People don’t like this because they think that if you’re eliminated you out. It’s the game. Personally, I don’t have much opinions on it, I just complain more on the quality itself rather than the twist in this season alone. Overall, because of the bad gameplay, horrible post-merge, and steamrolling, Redemption Island fails to deliver on many levels. Absolute disappointment See more Prince P @RT99028698 09/22/2024 If you're fan of Rob it's gonna be pleasurableto you but for me was good fun See more Mr. C @RT37520172 12/07/2022 With a half-baked twist, unfair format, and few likable contestants, "Survivor: Redemption Island" is a weak season.
