A Halloween episode of The Flash sounds like a hoot, but the somber tone that has overtaken the show since the revelation of Barry's fate makes "There Will Be Blood" a much less festive occasion than it might otherwise have been.
It made for a perfectly dark hour, but not in the way that anyone, including all of Team Flash, expected for the spooky and fun holiday.
Thankfully, though, "There Will Be Blood" brings the emotion back tenfold, bringing both Cisco and Joe's reactions to Barry's looming death to the forefront in a gut-wrenching and creepy episode.
For the first time in a long time, The Flash feels like appointment viewing for me again, and I honestly can't express how excited that makes me.
The Flash has always known how to take it's audience through a myriad of emotions, but the complexities shown in this episode was superb.
Nash Wells is also a highlight this week; he's a bit like a lot of other Wells wrapped into a fun, Indiana Jones package; the digs at Cisco are always welcome when noticing his "shoddy workmanship" gives that warm Wells feeling.
Once again, both narratives complemented each other really well and produced a Halloween-themed episode with real heart.
This might be the strongest four episode start in the show's history.
