Miss R @RT06397512 Aug 16 This isn’t a review of series 1 per se, but a review for all 5 so far. Renovation shows are nothing new. But what is beautiful about this one are the Irish people who increasingly as the series’ progress are the ones renovating. Just as the science fiction of a people can tell us a lot about the present culture of the place, this property show has a lot to imply about the past and present of the people of Ireland. Nothing is laboured on the points - they just arise from the stories themselves, the young people moving back home, the amount of sleeves rolled self building, the young one in the last episode of the last in the current 5 series who takes the stones he needs to fix his house from the field of the farm he grew up on. The cheerful person in (is it series 2, I can’t recall) who lives in a house with no services and fixed it all through lockdown and is absurdly cheerful the whole time. It’s sometimes absurdly touching - always uplifting, always delightful. See more Read all reviews
