Widower Ben Stevenson tries to be both parent and pal to his precocious 12-year-old son, Matty, when he isn't working as an editor at a small Chicago publishing house run by bickering ex-spouses Alex and Nicole. At home, Ben's father, James, and brother, Carl, are more than ready to offer unsolicited advice on everything from childrearing to romance. Ben's administrative assistant, Angela, also is good for a supportive hug now and then.

The writing seems a little sharper and more sensitive than the standard stuff, and ace hoofer Hines displays a light touch and considerable grace. Go to Full Review

Has all the cuteness and lovability of a panda party. That's not necessarily good... Television is a personality medium, however, and Hines and Hammond bring enough of that to the show to make one want to overlook the painful familiarity of it all. Go to Full Review

Hines is such a genuine, adorable presence that audiences can't help but feel drawn to him. And his relationship with screen son Hammond is sweet enough to promote hypoglycemia. Go to Full Review
