nina n Apr 8 Kids told me they like it :) See more Tantan N 03/09/2023 Spoiler alert. I'm giving this 4 stars only because it was filmed in Aotearoa and my friends were Extras in it. I'm sorry I'm not a Legends fan and I've been overexposed to it living in China. But in it's defense, this particular version is slapstick funny. I laughed the whole way through and giggled when Monkey "died". The only thing I emotionally connected to was Mr. Hansen's creepy portrait of evil Monkey. It was actually a little scary. See more 03/07/2021 For folk who watched the originals as kids, New Legends has done for Monkey Magic what Cobra Kai has done for Karate Kid. Considering the original series was filmed in Japan and being based in Chinese mythology, it's a refreshing look that this has been based in Australia with Australian accents. In fact they revel in that fact, even characters having Somerset accents etc. The story stands up on its own the same. It's not much good watching one episode so I heed little in what some reviewers will say. This is a journey, and the journey must be undertook, overcoming all obstacles and by any means.
