TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Mar 5 WWE has always been an entertaining product overall, and I genuinely appreciate the effort they put into developing future stars through their competition shows. These programs are a fascinating way to discover new talent and witness the journey of aspiring wrestlers trying to make it big. I’ve followed WWE for years, and I’m particularly invested in Raw, SmackDown, and especially the NXT program. SmackDown continues to offer consistent excitement, and NXT remains a must-watch for those who love seeing new stars emerge. That said, WWE storytelling can occasionally feel a bit lackluster or predictable, with plots that seem scattered or unnecessarily convoluted. Enter the new competition show featuring legends like Mickie James, The Undertaker, Booker T, and Bubba Ray Dudley. The combination of Hall of Famers mentoring the next generation is a breath of fresh air. Watching these legends interact, provide guidance, and share their expertise is genuinely exciting. I will admit that Bubba Ray can be polarizing, but his energy adds a unique dynamic to the group. The show itself features 16 aspiring superstars competing for an NXT contract, and it’s inspiring to see them showcase their skills without being bogged down by overly dramatic storylines. I’m particularly invested in BJ Ray. I’ve been following him since his previous shows alongside Zena and Cutler James, and it’s gratifying to see their growth—even if they’re still fighting for a contract. Cutler now being on NXT makes him a wildcard; I can see him either struggling to make an impact or emerging as a major player. Zena needs some work on her promos, while BJ Ray could benefit from a bit more attitude adjustment. That said, his brash persona pairs well with talents like Logan Paul, Grayson Waller, and Austin Theory, creating an engaging mix of personalities. The format of the show is one of its strongest points. It mirrors the actual WWE progression: hopefuls start with a tryout, train at the Performance Center, and then work toward NXT contracts. Shows like LFG give these wrestlers a platform to demonstrate both skill and character, allowing fans to connect with their journey. The winners advance to NXT, while those who don’t succeed are often redirected to programs like WWE Evolve. From there, if they continue to refine their craft, they can eventually make it to the main roster, and perhaps even headline WrestleMania or earn a spot in the Hall of Fame. It’s a system that’s both exciting and aspirational for fans who want to follow talent from day one. However, while the show peaked in terms of entertainment and engagement, my excitement was tempered by what I consider some highly questionable decisions. The winners of this season were, in my opinion, completely undeserving. After watching every match, seeing all the effort, and following the contestants’ growth, it’s impossible for me to agree that the girl and boy who were crowned deserved those victories. Their selection feels arbitrary, and it makes the entire competition feel less credible. It raises the question: was this outcome predetermined for reasons outside of in-ring performance? If so, it undermines the show’s integrity, turning what should have been a thrilling journey into something that feels more like a scripted pageant than a real competition. Overall, LFG offers a compelling platform, entertaining moments, and insight into the WWE developmental process, but the selection of winners significantly diminishes its credibility. It’s a show worth watching for anyone invested in the future of WWE talent, but it’s hard to fully embrace it knowing that the outcomes may not reflect the best performers in the ring. It’s a reminder that even in a world built on spectacle, fairness and authenticity matter—especially when cultivating the stars of tomorrow. See more Read all reviews
