Vanja Cernjul

A native of Zagreb, Croatia, Vanja Cernjul attended his hometown's prestigious Academy of Dramatic Arts before moving to Manhattan to study at New York University's film school. Following work on a number of short films, his first feature credit was on the romantic comedy "I'll Take You There," the first film written and directed by the late actress Adrienne Shelly. Work on other low-budget films followed, ranging from the unauthorized direct-to-video sequel "American Psycho II: All American Girl," starring "That 70s Show" cutie Mila Kunis in a decidedly change-of-pace role, to the critically acclaimed black comedy "Wristcutters: A Love Story." He moved into television by serving as the Director of Photography for the pilot of the whimsical romantic comedy-drama "Ugly Betty," and served as cinematographer for the first two seasons of Tina Fey's showbiz satire, "30 Rock," winning an Emmy nomination for his work. Following that triumph, Cernjul moved to cable with Edie Falco's medical comedy-drama "Nurse Jackie" and the wry Brooklyn hipster satire "Bored to Death," starring Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galafianakis.
