Souvik D @Magician Feb 19 A towering double performance by Amitabh Bachchan anchors Aakhree Raasta. Unlike many formulaic revenge dramas, the protagonist here uses strategy and intellect rather than blind rage, which adds depth to the narrative. The film ambitiously attempts to echo the iconic sewer sequence of The Third Man (1949), but it falls short of matching that classic’s haunting tension and visual impact. Still, credit to the director for aiming high instead of imitating lesser thrillers. The music by Laxmikant–Pyarelal feels surprisingly ordinary. Anupam Kher shines in a few scenes but mostly veers into caricature. Meanwhile, Sadashiv Amrapurkar continued his strong villainous streak that began with Ardh Satya, leaving a lasting impression. Flawed yet engaging, the film ultimately works because of Bachchan’s commanding presence.
