To say that Schwarzenegger is exceptional here feels somewhat an understatement.

The film's driven by mood, not character, and you can't force grief on someone.
October 9, 2019
Aftermath fails to convey a believable mindset for its characters, and labors greatly to overcome the slightness of its budget.

[Arnold] acquits himself well and seems to bring his own life of troubles with him in these latter performances. But this film is pretty relentlessly bleak without a whole lot to say about any of the proceedings.

Powerful performances from all involved elevate this story from what could have easily been TV movie, to a solid and worthwhile drama.

Aftermath shows Arnold Schwarzenegger making interesting use of the VOD medium, all while many of his action comrades are busy using it to dump their latest lame-brained shoot 'em ups.

... everything that happens follows a fairly conventional pattern... [Full review in Spanish]

... this is a fascinating film, simply because it's so out of character for Schwarzenegger. The actor may not have the range to carry such a film, but it's commendable that he's still willing to try even at this point in his career.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is there to lift heavy things and drive jeeps off buildings onto Harrier Jump Jets. If we could all just get back to a place where we accepted that, maybe we'd all learn how to get along again.

Aftermath, with its promising premise, could have been an intense drama but what you get instead is a wandering, forgettable story that reeks of nothingness.
October 27, 2017
Aftermath could've been about so much more. It could've been a search for faith and hope. It could've been a story of forgiveness and second chances. But what it could never be, is a film that redirects the career of a fading action star.
October 12, 2017
It's tense, well made and Schwarzenegger is perfectly good, until the final 15 minutes when it falls apart, hampered by the creative decision to follow a tragic story arc plucked from real life.
October 3, 2017
Arnold may have just reinvented his career yet again.
September 20, 2017
Thankfully, the actors' performances saved the unexciting storyline.
June 27, 2017
The lack of an insightful screenplay, or well-drawn characters for Schwarzenegger and McNairy to work with leave Aftermath seeming empty and, frankly, dull.
June 12, 2017
Sombre and slow, this basic bereavement button-pusher is far more humane than Arnie's billing would lead you to believe.
May 5, 2017
Flat characters and full of clichs. A story that, except for its narrative structure, tries to focus on the human side, opting for the easy way, perhaps not to defraud a viewer. [Full review in Spanish]

This wasn't a movie I expected to see going into it, but I'm glad Aftermath fed me some raw emotion and real perspective on the fleeting nature of life.
April 26, 2017
After an effective first act, everything falls apart -- there is neither urgency nor any narrative direction to Roman's behaviour, one that would justify the actions in the finale.
April 14, 2017
Schwarzenegger and McNairy contribute credible performances, but both actors deserved better than this uneven, unmoving tale.
