There was an attempt at being artsy but it failed and kind of broke up the plot. The actors were competent but the interactions were so cheesy and trite that I laughed at times. It almost seemed like a satire of the genre. I think there is a lot of good aspects - it just got too long and too predictable. The bad guy was so bad it seemed cartoonish. The interaction between characters was so overdone it seemed corny instead of inspiring. I sat there watching this movie thinking to myself okay I should be feeling sad or touched now at this part - but the feeling just wasn't there - it felt kind of like a flash in a pan. I think some people will really like this one and good for them and I can see some worth and value in the epic adventure angle and star value of the actors. It just fell short for my date and I. But this movie doesn’t serve either very well. Scenic at times. Just not that interesting of a story.
