Joey G. @joeyglitter Jun 6 Ambientato in una realtà distopica, dove un gruppo di cinque persone si risveglia inspiegabilmente all’interno di una struttura cubica, senza apparenti vie di fuga, “Il Cubo” trascina lo spettatore in una dimensione estremamente claustrofobica e ansiogena, in cui l’equilibrio mentale di ciascun “partecipante” verrà messo a dura prova. Lo scopo della storia, che non fornisce praticamente alcun dettaglio su chi siano gli artefici della clausura forzata dei protagonisti (e forse è proprio questa totale assenza di informazioni a creare ancora più tensione e stordimento nello spettatore) è la sopravvivenza. Nessun mostro o alieno apparirà ai cinque malcapitati, bensì un pesante labirinto zeppo di trappole e imbrogli mentali che cambieranno lo status quo dei personaggi. Amo questo film sin da ragazzino, e nel suo criptico significato e l’atmosfera surreale, racchiude un fascino difficilmente replicabile. L’epilogo è tutt’altro che prevedibile. I found this very engaging even though it has below average acting especially from Maurice Dean Wint who thought they were making a cartoon. The logic, maths and physics of the Cube is flawed, if you ignore or blissfully don’t care then this film is so much better. The writing and direction are excellent. I didn’t like any of the characters except maybe David Hewlett’s character "Worth" although that wasn’t a problem. The ending is so great. Probably my favourite high concept ambiguous horror. See more David S. @baxter667 Nov 16 How is a straight to VHS film this good??? I accidentally picked this up in a bargain bin in a thrift store, and it shouldn't be this good...but it is. A strange, but fun thriller that leaves a lot of itself, unexplained. Have to say not bad, and it's aged well, and hey, not a waste of time at all!!! Even though it has clunky acting the story and the traps themselves make for an interesting horror chamber piece that inspired a lot of filmmakers See more Jared D @RT62566321 Oct 5 Has a decent plot line; pretty original (especially at the time), the character development and discovery of the 6 main characters innermost selves by the viewer is ultimately what kept me watching, along with waiting to see what traps and challenges the next room of the cube had in store.
