I’m conflicted with this movie. It has great special effects for it’s time, a decent plot and stays true to science but the characters didn’t have any depth to them. I understand the film is about a catastrophic event but every time there wasn’t a storm or some sort of chaos happening I kind of lost interest.

This is one of my favorite disaster movies. Despite what anyone says... it is a good movie. Told a good story. Had a proper villain who learns his lesson, had a hero, even a few sad moments and had a good solid ending.

It’s crazy how misleading this review is. One of the worst I’ve seen on\from RT’s, most notably because it’s coming from both sides. Not saying it one of the greatest movies ever, period…. but it is the best “natural disaster” movie ever made.

I have never understood why more people don't love this movie. It has amazing performances, incredible effects and the plot is much more plausible than many other sci fi films considered masterpieces.
