Another Bogart classic. Bogie had an unbelievable batting average.

This classic film is really good. Humphrey Bogart, Ethel Barrymore, Kim Hunter, Ed Begley, Warren Stevens, Paul Stewart, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. The plot to the movie was dramatic and entertaining. It's about doing one last moment that'll never be forgotten during troubled times. If you haven't seen this classic film yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see.

Not sure this movie would be this good without Bogart. It's great noire (dead anonymous blonde in the fur coat ... what great noire doesn't have one of those? ) and the small supporting parts by Begley, Stewart, and Barrymore make it complete.

Humphrey Bogart plays Humphrey Bogart as he always does and he does it as well as he always does. Somehow he managed to get starring roles in some of the best films of the era and this riveting movie is another.

Deadline USA has been a tough film to track down, but with the inclusion on BluRay, this film lives into the next generation. The film is a love letter to free press and allows the film to unfold with a storyline that is worthy of the running time. The film is very true, compared to today's press, which is severely right wing, fear orientated and aimed at the lower educated. There is so much going on in the world, but the one thing we should be able to trust is unbias journalism. This film is about sticking to your gut and not backing down when all the cards are down. Bogart is the key to the film and delivers a great central performance. I hope this film develops into a cult film, due to the fact it failed at the box office and vanished for the better part of 50 years. Good old fashioned storytelling with a speech every journalist should watch. 12/01/2019.

Why had I never heard of this movie. It's great! Terrific dialogue and some very spot-on portrayals of journalism life, such as the ode from female reporter Mrs. Wildebrant during the bar "wake." Loved it.

If you want to watch a good old Humphrey Bogart movie I recommend this one. Richard Brooks (IN COLD BLOOD) directed this film about a newspaper editor (Bogart) dealing with the fact his newspaper is going out of business. Nevertheless, he decides his paper will take on the local crime boss and expose him for the murder of a young woman. Bogart does a really good job in his role. So do the supporting cast including Ethel Barrymore, Kim Hunter, and Jim Backus. Definitely worthwhile.

A bit stereotyped at times (does the editor always have to be a bit jaded with a failed relationship in his past?), it's still a dandy film that captures the feel of an old-school big-city newsroom. And Bogie is Bogie, which is always a bonus.
