Roy Eberhardt (Logan Lerman) has moved so often he has lost track of how many times he has changed schools. After moving from Montana to Florida's Gulf Coast, he befriends Beatrice (Brie Larson) and her brother. The siblings show Roy their hideaway, where they secretly take care of a flock of wild owls. When they learn that a restaurant will be built where the owls live, the three decide to enlist the help of a local policeman (Luke Wilson) to save the birds.

Younger kids will find the pranks and schemes funny, while the enviro-activist theme is an important message to which they may just latch on. The eco-responsibility part, not the venomous snake part, one hopes.

I’ve been starving for a film like this for the last few years! Where did all the lighthearted comedies go? (Had never seen this movie before.) It’s fun in a sweet film - a simple & beautiful message about trying to preserve some key elements in our environment— told by teenagers trying to figure out their own lives. And the music score was awesome. This felt like Jimmy Buffett’s vision.

Funny in 1 hour and 27 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated PG for Mild Bullying and Brief Language!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The USA grossed over $8,100,000.00!!!!!!

Synopsis
