What to Know

Critics Consensus

Kill Bill is admittedly little more than a stylish revenge thriller -- albeit one that benefits from a wildly inventive surfeit of style.

There's nothing like a good 'ole revenge heist (complete with a hit list) to make this film one of Tarantino's best. Go to Full Review

...'Kill Bill' stands perfectly well on its own as the masterpiece it is, and functions flawlessly as a statement of principles, as an exemplary action film, and as a vast celebration of cinema and life. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Both films combined gift Uma Thurman the role of her career and, for the first film, she received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress...she was not recognized by the Academy, which is absurd, in retrospect. Go to Full Review

Julian R @RT60628543 14h esta wena, excelente pero no es para ponerla de fondo mientras como ñato. Uno tiene que ponerle atencion. See more Dave K @BilboBagsy 1d The film is basically non-stop action and violence. While the fight scenes are shot and edited in a way that keeps the action steaming forward. It is arguably very unrealistic and I found this a bit frustrating. Characters fly through the air from light kicks, recover from wounds immediately and at some point of the film they jump to unrealistic heights clearly tied to a pulley. I found these moments really jarring and while it fits the style of the genre it removed me from the action everytime this happened. It is however very well shot and the cuts and edits keep the action flowing at an incredible pace, so for fans of one man army movies its on point. The writing is Tarantino and Therman together but the dialogue certainly isn't as exciting or inspiring as some of his previous scripts. The violence is incredibly graphic but almost to a comical effect. Blood sprays from peoples limbs like a garden sprinkler. Not his best work but well worth a watch. 7 / 10 See more Matthew A @iWupp 4d I've now watched this film 7 times in every format possible (in theatre, streaming, Blu-Ray, 4k Blu-Ray & Open Matte) and reviewed it 3 different times. I'm gonna compress all those reviews and my current thoughts into this review, my definitive review of Kill Bill. To start this I have to mention that my first time seeing this was in a theater and ever since then I have fallen in love with movies. And this film truly encapsulates everything I love about filmmaking. The first thing I love is the non linear storytelling, it works amazingly in this film. Then you have the abundance of sound effects used throughout the film. Again, it works perfect and is inspired by Japanese tv shows, much like this film in general. Thirdly you get some of the most jaw dropping fight sequences ever put to film. The choreography, blood and dismemberment all go hand in hand to create this otherworldly action that I haven't seen replicated since. Review continued on Letterboxd - @iWup See more Robin H @RT03192037 Jun 19 I've watched it a couple of times and don't like it. There are some good bits but the fight scenes are repetitive and defy physics and biomechanics, particularly what skinny women can do with steel, which has become a movie staple. See more Tristan B @tristan3 Jun 17 [BOT] A masterclass in tension. See more Musa A @doodleflame May 18 So over the top and SO awesome See more Read all reviews
