William Goss Austin Chronicle 01/29/2015
Patrick Osborne's wordless Feast doesn't skimp on charm or style, even if it feels like Disney is still chasing after the decades-spanning emotional weight of Up's opening sequence several years later... Go to Full Review

In the deeply moving 'The Bigger Picture,' Daisy Jacobs uses a fresh and unique animation style to tell a story that is full of humanity. Go to Full Review

True, most of these films deal with depressing subject matter like illness, loneliness and government suppression, but just about all of them inspire hope and belief in the human spirit. Go to Full Review

If I were an Academy member, my vote would go to "Me and My Moulton," directed by Torill Kove, a previous winner in 2007 for her film "The Danish Poet." Go to Full Review

I'm completely over the moon for Daisy Jacobs's hugely inventive work, "The Bigger Picture," which charts family dynamics in dealing with an aging parent Go to Full Review

06/19/2018 n what is one of my favorite things about the Oscars, this year's shorts weren't as good as previous years, but the uniquely presented "The Bigger Picture" stood out as ground-breaking. In addition, "The Dam Keeper" was beautifully told. It seems unfair that "Feast," funded by Disney, beat the other grass-roots efforts in the Oscar race. "The Dam Keeper" captures emotions of hurt, "The Bigger Picture" captures aging children/parents emotions, and "A Single Life" captures a charming 'oops'. "The Bigger Picture" gets my vote for the combination of technical and story. See more Miranda P 02/07/2015 Feast is my favorite, but there were many excellent shorts. Other standouts were A Single Life and The Dam Keeper. Totally worth seeing if you get the chance. See more Laura P 02/05/2015 Triumphant, moving, and enough to make me cry, this year's selection of animated shorts were astounding in their artistic leaps and bounds to change the medium of animation. Choosing only one short to win the coveted Oscar is a challenge. They each presented unique stories paired with even more unique animation techniques. Daisy Jacobs's The Bigger Picture, while a story with a dark undercurrent, created what I would consider a groundbreaking animation style that absolutely glowed. Disney's Feast was exactly what you would expect from Disney (in the best way): an adorable protagonist, an adventurous little tale, and remarkable art direction. The Dam Keeper left me in pieces; I could have cried for an hour over it. Bus Story, while not nominated ("Honorary Commendation") was hilarious and actually made me laugh out loud. The Academy has a hard decision before them; with each short more entertaining and revolutionary than the last, it's hard to imagine which filmmaker will carry the Oscar home with them.
