Romas M @Romas 5d Greetings from Lithuania. "Scary Movie" (2000) is for me the perfect parody movie. I've watched it many times upon its release and loved it very much. Now I did rewatched it in 2026 on Blu Ray and I kind of liked it even more. 99,5% of jokes do land for me in this movie, and that for me what makes this one the best parody movie ever made. I haven't had this much for in comedies combined of what I've seen in the last 10 years or so. Maybe even more. Overall, "Scary Movie" is as funny and great parody that one can watch and rewatch. It is funny as hell, and clearly creators were big fans of great movies that they spoofed. It will left one in tears. Great movie. Para contar con un presupuesto moderado y una producción casi tan sencilla como la de Scream, la película ha sido sin duda la mayor obra cinematográfica que los Wayans han creado. Por no decir la más significativa de sus carreras. Así como Scream ha reinventado el cine slasher, Scary Movie ha reinventado el cine parodia y ambas películas comparten el mismo valor por el cambio de paradigma que provocaron en dos terrenos distintos. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, the film borrows heavily from Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, exaggerating their familiar characters, predictable plots, and dramatic tension until they become absurd. Rather than simply mocking horror, the film exposes how formulaic the genre had become by the late 1990s. Anna Faris gives the strongest performance as Cindy Campbell, balancing sincerity and comedy in a way that keeps the film engaging even when the jokes become ridiculous. The fast pacing ensures that weak jokes are quickly replaced by stronger ones, creating a consistently entertaining experience. Although some humour has aged poorly and relies on stereotypes or shock value, the film remains an effective satire. Its self awareness, energetic performances, and clever use of genre conventions make it one of the most influential parody films ever made. It still stands above many later spoof films.
