News & Interviews for Avatar: The Last Airbender: Season 1
Franchise writers of all stripes could stand to learn something from how neatly Avatar lines up the audience's expectations, then satisfies them in a way that still manages to feel unexpected.
This... was a fantasy narrative meticulously crafted from a obvious love of anime and Eastern philosophy.
This is not fantasy storytelling for thinking adults. It's inoffensive enough for kids, I suppose, but lack of offense is hardly reason to embrace a story.
For viewers of all ages, it's a gripping and emotionally rewarding watch-especially now that it's all available to binge.
As a viewer, The Last Airbender teaches without trying-and is a shining example of what it means to show unconditional devotion to a greater cause.
Avatar succeeded in creating one of the most nuanced characters in all of animation with Zuko.
[It has] pitch-perfect comedy, intense element-bending action, and mythology that's worthy of obsession.
Mixing magical fantasy and comedy, martial arts challenge sequences with Godzilla-style monsters, [it] goes beyond the everyday action cartoon, bringing an interesting mix of Asian mysticism and epic fiction to the small screen.
The freshman season of Avatar: The Last Airbender was certainly a first class ticket to Funland.
Audience Reviews for Avatar: The Last Airbender: Season 1
5d agoI have no words. Nothing can compare.
May 07, 2021I love this show, it's in my opinion that this is thee single best animated series ever made or at least in the top 3. Book 1 Water is the weakest of the three seasons, but is by no means a bad season to the show just the weakest. The world and lore is absolutely fascinating, between the world building and characters this show is absolute gold! The only set back for this season was the the limitations to the animation due to the time it was released and because of the smaller budget season 1 had. Other than that it has great characters, action, lore, and symbolism, it's an important series for the history and future of animation.
Apr 20, 2021the closest thing to perfection on this planet.
Mar 17, 2021The world building is great, cast nailed their roles.
Mar 12, 2021May not be as fun as the rest of the show, but you do have a fun time. After watching book 1 water, I felt like having a drink because the title in it has water. Because that's what season 1 is called.
Mar 07, 2021In my opinion, this was the worst season of a great show. However it's enjoyable in its own right.
Mar 05, 2021Personally, I felt that this show had a very basic plotline with very bland characters who have brief development throughout the series (other than Zuko of course). However, Zuko's character development isn't enough to redeem this boringly long season with dragging episodes.
Feb 06, 2021I don't want to spoil anything just watch it! I first watched it in my tweens it still holds up now in my adulthood.
Jan 31, 2021The best show of all time. Do yourself a favour and watch it.
Jan 23, 2021Another one of my childhood tv shows.
