From the creators of "Damages," "Bloodline" is a dramatic thriller that explores the demons lurking beneath the surface of a contemporary American family. The Rayburns are hard-working pillars of their Florida Keys community, but their past contains dark secrets that they hope remain buried. Paranoia and mistrust build as lies pile up, alliances are shattered, and an unthinkable crime takes place. The tight-knit family's formerly harmonious relationship deteriorates, and good people are forced to consider doing very bad things.

Critics Consensus

While Bloodline's tricky timeline detracts from the potency of the story and its characters, the show remains an addictive, tightly drawn brainteaser framed on a believable canvas.

Produced by the creators of legal thriller Damages, Bloodline is expert in its mix of complex characterisation and killer twists and should be just the ticket for any Netflixers seeking another dark drama binge, post-House of Cards. Go to Full Review

You know when the family's patriarch is Sam Shepard - the guy who wrote Buried Child - there is going to be some blood on the floor. Go to Full Review

The talent on the roster is impressive indeed, and the Netflix full-season delivery model seems fortuitous in that Bloodline, on the basis of this sampling, begs to be binge-watched. Go to Full Review

With Bloodline there is an emotional ups and downs from the desire to see the next chapter. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Six episodes in, with the atmosphere swinging between portentous and over-pumped, the suspicion that you are watching a guilty pleasure dressed up as something more sophisticated is hard to dispel. Go to Full Review

That's what makes Bloodline special. Storylines are introduced gradually, over the course of several episodes, and left to simmer on their own until they reach a boiling point. Go to Full Review

David G. @davgar09 Jan 8 Tried and tried to like this series but I just couldn't hang through the first season. Story was way too slow and boring. Acting was not good. I do not recomend this anyone. See more Mel I Sep 3 Bloodline starts with nine gripping episodes that pull you in with suspense and family tension. But by the second season, the storytelling feels repetitive — conflicts are dragged out when they could be resolved with one honest conversation. Instead of allowing its characters to act with emotional realism, the show forces drama for the sake of extending the plot. It’s a strong series that loses impact by not trusting its own characters to behave like real people. See more Peter K 02/09/2025 Here's a case where the long form of the TV series does not work. There's a thin plot that would sustain 100 min movie but my god they really have to stretch it to fill episode after episode. Some the acting (despite the cast) and the dialogue is incredibly laboured and so so tedious. See more Greg M 11/14/2024 Season 1 was good, 2 okay and 3 sucked!!! I haven’t been this frustrated with a show since Lost. I wanted to see how it ends but it is awful. Don’t waste your time. See more Ileen D 11/07/2024 How a good story goes bad….. It was well written and directed and the actors were great! I was really enjoying it (I have always been a fan of Sissy Spacek) and up until the middle till the end of season three I would have given it 5 stars..but I can’t. From John’s suicide / accident ?? (No one really knows what it was) till the end of the story it blows…it’s like they didn’t know where to take the story so let’s just not give any answers and just say it was done purposely….sad, really sad. A great series just ruined… See more Reidmoto 09/01/2024 Bloodline is my favorite Netflix series for these reasons: 1. The writing is so phenomenal, IMHO, WORLD CLASS, and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole series 2. All the actors are so amazing! Sissy Spacek, the actors who played Danny, John, Kevin, and Meg, were phenomenal in their roles! Even the secondary characters like Eric O' Bannon, Chelsea his sister, etc., did such a superb job 3. The "arc" of the story is perfect! It starts off calm and tranquil, and gradually increases in intensity slowly, subtly, for each episode 4. Thanks to the great acting, everything was so believable and my emotions were fully engaged and feelin' it See more Read all reviews
