Center of the Universe: Season 1 (2004 - 2005)
Season 1
Center of the Universe
At its core, Center of the Universe is a uncompromisingly bad sitcom that wastes that immense talents of John Goodman and his fellow cast members.

Critic Reviews for Center of the Universe Season 1
All Critics (14) | Top Critics (8) | Fresh (0) | Rotten (14)
"The Center of the Universe" is a brilliant success, if the goal is to make some of TV's best look awful.
"Loving your family can be hard work," [John] Goodman says. Loving this family would be just about impossible.
To watch this show is to see [John] Goodman lumber across a living room and collapse onto a sofa, all while delivering a straight line to Asner, who plays his oversexed father.
So much goes wrong in this series, it's like a new car getting T-boned by a speeding bus. Don't try to unbend the frame, just total the whole thing.
All the high-caliber actors, highly paid comedy writers and tightly honed one-liners cannot lift "Center of the Universe" off the ground.
Some of the more durable, likable performers in show business team up for one of the fall's most disastrous comedies, "Center of the Universe," a program unlikely to prove central or universal for anyone.
It's not just that it's unfunny, it's painfully unfunny.
Despite a great cast, this "Universe" is off center.
The entire cast should be embarrassed by this painfully unfunny show.
It would seem impossible to make a show with talent the caliber of John Goodman, Jean Smart, Olympia Dukakis and Ed Asner, with a result so embarrassingly dreadful that it evokes pity for the stars... the producers of Center of the Universe have done it.
Poor, poor John Goodman stars in this horrifically unentertaining sitcom that reminds me of watching Everybody Loves Raymond--while someone pulls out my fingernails with a pair of electrified pliers.
There's a strong cast assembled for the new sitcom "Center of the Universe," including John Goodman, Jean Smart, Olympia Dukakis and Ed Asner. But there's a lapse of writing and a distinct malaise in the performances for the series premiere.
