Counterpart is more than a trending topic. It feels like a series that's here to stay.

Jan 18, 2018 | Rating: A- | Full Review…

There are elements that don't work in Counterpart, and more of them with each passing episode, but Simmons keeps it often riveting. It's a performance you simply have to see. Actually, it's two.

Not everything meshes entirely smoothly, but the series' style and substance are apparent from the start.

Jan 26, 2018 | Rating: A- | Full Review…

Throughout all the setup of this riven world, imagined by show creator Justin Marks, Simmons shines. His performance as both Howards is endlessly entertaining, and it kept me engaged in the story even when I wasn't certain exactly what was happening.

Jan 24, 2018 | Full Review…

What makes the show work is that it invests very little in selling the science of this concept, choosing to craft a taut, suspenseful spy thriller rather than a more fantastical work of science fiction.

Simmons and dark sci-fi; it it's your kind of thing - as it is mine - by all means go for it.

Mar 5, 2020 | Full Review…

This first episode is quite conventional in every way: At the level of the script and at the level of the presentation of characters and dilemmas. [Full Review in Spanish]

Jul 31, 2019 | Full Review…

[It's] a percipient, resolute and magnetic tale of what is and what may be is in the offing from the series produced by MRC.

Jan 5, 2019 | Full Review…

An engrossing, intelligent and adult science-fiction drama.

Dec 3, 2018 | Full Review…

The restraint of Counterpart, especially given its potentially outsized, ridiculous premise, is impressive. In fact, it mirrors Simmons' performance -- by far the best reason to watch the show.

Oct 16, 2018 | Full Review…

A brilliant performance by Simmons, as well as incredible worldbuilding from Marks, delivers one of the best thrillers on television.

Counterpart is what you might get if John Le Carré and Phillip K. Dick sat down and decided to write a TV show together.

    Incredible acting, unique premise

The best new show for years. Amazing concept, writing and acting. Outrageous that it was cancelled after just 2 seasons! If ever a show needed to be rescued by Netflix, THIS is it!
  • Mar 09, 2021
We did not know what to expect but found we really enjoyed it. We ended up binge watching both season's. Sorry that there will not be a season 3.
  • Mar 01, 2021
It was well-acted and well-written. I preferred this season to the second season. I just wish it had a bit of a faster pace. It felt drawn out and purposefully over dramatic sometimes (and even worse in season 2).

    Loved the show, very entertaining!

counterpart is a great tv series. this brings tv to the next level. The only part of this tv series is bad is the first five minutes. this movie is great acting from Harry Lloyd. I think him being young really fits. when Peter Quayle (who he was acting) talks to Howard silk in the tunnel scene witch is very early in the season. that scene sucky you in completely. I am not going to tell you the dialogue butt like said before It really sucks you in. they use this same tunnel a lot to cross over to the other world. It was all so a really good performance from j.k Simmons. you will find this movie reminds you of customs in air ports. counter part is one of these movies were you can only half follow along but still know the plot. I think the pandemic part of it is very coincidental. over all this is a great first season and I will comment on season 2 when I have finished that.

I just wanted both the JKs in one reality and for them to be with their wives and work everything out together. I didn't get everything that I wanted, but by the end of the second season, I still felt satisfied. I would totally watch a third season, but where would we go? Everything's top notch, ESPECIALLY in season 1, it's still a fun spy show with fantastic emotional acting, thrilling action/suspense, and unpredictable (albeit frustrating because I'm so attached to the characters) story. Go watch it before this is all we get. There's a reason there's 100% on all seasons from critics.
