Critic Reviews for Dragon Ball Super Season 2

Entirely skippable if you already own "Resurrection F"... You'll miss a few admittedly enjoyable filler episodes and a returning character cameo, but to compare the animation and fight choreography between the two is laughable.

The extended runtime makes the series version the preferable version of the Resurrection of Frieza storyline in almost every way. There are, however, some problems with the quality of the artwork.

It's a game of getting all the characters to reveal the new transformations they've discovered off-screen... This story is easily my least favorite of any major Dragon Ball story.

Lets Vegeta take control, kick all sorts of ass, and remind everyone just how amazing he is... It's also a major deviation from the Resurrection 'F' source material, which has always paid off the show.

This series goes straight to Hell. Frieza's own personal Hell, that is. Plus, the Z-fighters get it together finally to protect the planet.

Full Series SPOILER-FREE Review @ https://wp.me/p7N9MN-2sp Season Rating: D+ "This is the tough bit ... These arcs are awfully bad. The animation is horrible, especially in the second arc which at the time, was a major cause for concern because no improvement was being made. While Beerus x Goku has its good moments, Goku x Frieza is one of the biggest letdowns in the entire Dragon Ball history. Besides that, these arcs basically repeat the movies, so these are almost 30 episodes which we already know what is going to happen. However, I encourage NOT to entirely skip these episodes. While I agree that watching the films is a much better way to go through these arcs (the movies' animation is beautiful), the series does a good job of fixing some of the films' minor issues. The characters receive the backstory they need to justify some of the movies' plot points which feel "out of nowhere". Overall, these are definitely the worst arcs of Super, but it is possible to avoid the suffering by watching the films instead, while also watching some of the setup episodes of each arc, in order to understand the movies' plots."

The decision to redo the film "Resurrection F" in the form of TV show episodes is something that baffles me. There is no need for that. Everyone who knows Dragon Ball or will even care to watch the new series has undoubtedly already watched the film, so spending a whole season broadcasting something we already watched as new & changing aspects that were perfectly fine in the film is ridiculous. Moving on to the actual episodes, the dubbed version of the 2nd season, pretty much as the 1st season, has a splendid voice acting cast. Where Dragon Ball Super is once again lacking is in the animation department. I honestly don't know what's going on with that. It's like they didn't even listen to the cries of the fans or haven't actually watched the episodes they themselves have produced. The animation is still spectacular at one point & suddenly the very next point it turns into an absurd 5-year old art show. Really hope they work out the animation issues of this show because it's really dragging the whole quality down.

Frieza returns and the Z-Fighters get a chance to shine in this season. A little DBZ nostalgia to show the breadth of progress the Z-Fighters have attained. Even the ever-studious Gohan who chose family life and education over fighting after the Buu saga shows up to take the lead against Frieza’s force. Buu joining the Z-Fighters would’ve made this a real easy fight but he was taken out by preference for napping.
